A feature staircase in a newly renovated listed historical central London bar.

Munich Cricket Club brings a new concept to the dockside of West India Quay, a German Bierkeller with a large terraced garden, a long list of imported Munich beers, weekly live Oompah band and menus full of traditional Bavarian favourites.

Rayward Installations were tasked in delivering a bespoke feature staircase to allow access from the ground to the basement level that would be a central focal point in this great space. The vision was to install a modern stand out staircase that was in keeping with its historical setting.

We managed this by applying a smokey lacquer finish to raw mild steel stringers and balustrades. Adding galvanised mesh infill panels and light beech hardwood timber treads with matching handrail trim that complimented the heavy wood surroundings of the existing building.

The location of the 200-year-old timber beams meant head height was a challenging design obstacle to overcome. With an in-depth site survey, expert design software and the right placement Rayward Installation were able to site the stairs perfectly and install the whole project in three days while achieving a very high standard of workmanship.

We always relish the opportunity to get involved in iconic building projects such as these and enjoyed every moment of the process. The staircase sits perfectly within its surroundings and will be used by many a happy customer for years to come!
